Local cats to benefit from evening of games and great company

Local cats will benefit from a night of games, strategy, food and great company when a café and club house opens its doors to cat-lovers to host an evening in aid of Cats Protection Cornwall Cat Centre.

Truro's Happy Piranha Café, at 18 Pydar Street, is hosting a Paws and Play games night on Saturday (12 July) between 6.30pm and 10.30pm for anyone age 17+. It is a relaxed evening of modern board games designed for everyone from gaming newbies to seasoned veterans to enjoy with the £5 entry fee going directly to the charity.

Sam Gaunt from Happy Piranha says: “We have over 100 games from classics like Settlers of Catan to family and party games, social deduction games and more. We’re happy to teach players new games if they’d like a helping hand to get started.

“Our games nights have a relaxed, fun atmosphere and as well as the usually teas, coffees and hot chocolates to keep you fuelled through the evening, our bubble teas and Cornish ice cream milkshakes are proving really popular in the hot weather.

“We love games and we love cats so it seemed like the perfect combination to host an evening that will help cats who have become homeless through no fault of their own. Piranha Café is a space for people to celebrate the things they enjoy with others that share the same sentiment, whether that’s Dungeons & Dragons, knitting, board games, cats or something else!”

Among the cats to benefit from the evening will be one of the centre’s longest stayers, long-haired all-black Felix. The sweet-natured 14-year-old arrived in care after her owner died. She especially enjoys affection and one-to-one time, happily greeting members of the centre’s team each morning. She would be best-suited to a calm home as she was used to being an only pet in a quiet household. She is not keen on dogs or children but will make the perfect match for someone looking to share their life with a feline companion.
