The Orchid Show Returns to the Toledo Zoo

TOLEDO, Ohio, February 10, 2022 – The Toledo Zoo will again bloom this February with the Orchid Show. From February 11 - 27, visitors can immerse themselves in beautiful blooms throughout the ProMedica Museum of Natural History and Aquarium. The Orchid Show is an opportunity to discover the vibrant colors, delightful scents and interesting backstories of rare and exotic orchids from around the world. 

In addition to over 1,700 orchids, the three week show will also include a variety of classes, demonstrations and workshops. With topics ranging from how to care for orchids to how to photograph one, or make your own terrarium, there truly is something for everyone. 

Visitors will see a “bee’s eye view” of what orchids look like to pollinators. Many types of orchids are ultraviolet fluorescent, primarily in their reproductive parts in an attempt to focus the pollinator.

There is also an opportunity for the public to order an orchid from the virtual Plant Sale beginning on February 11. Pick-up will be on Thursday, March 3 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The Toledo Zoo’s Orchid Show runs 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from February 11 – 27. The event is included with Zoo admission. For more information, please visit toledozoo.org/orchidshow.
