RALEIGH, N.C. (May 13, 2024) - Wolfe & Porter, a creative cocktail-forward bar in downtown Raleigh, is hosting Tiki Fest on May 18 to celebrate its grand opening with live bands, food trucks and special cocktails.

Wolfe & Porter reopened in late January after extensive renovations to the 3,000-square-foot building at 905 W. Morgan St. The craft cocktail bar, which takes its name from two of North Carolina's most famous authors: Thomas Wolfe and William Sydney Porter (aka, O. Henry), hosts two unique bars in its expansive indoor and outdoor space.

The upper bar with its street-level entrance, front patio and back deck is a more casual space offering beer, wine and creative cocktails, including a frozen Elderflower French 75. The upstairs bar is open six days a week. Downstairs is The Cellar Liquor Bar, a sophisticated bourbon-focused bar serving both creative riffs of classic cocktails alongside the originals, as well as craft beer, aged wine, antique liquors and more. Some popular cocktails include the Persimmon Old Fashioned and the Carrot Cake Clarified Milk Punch. The Cellar Liquor Bar is open three nights a week for now, with expanded hours coming in June, and is available for private events.

"We were looking for an excuse to wear our Hawaiian shirts and so we decided to throw a grand opening party," said general manager, Richie Reno. "Tiki cocktails are notoriously complex but that complexity lends itself to fun adaptations. This event is a chance to express our cocktail creativity and bring some fun to the neighborhood."

Tiki Fest will be from 4 p.m.-midnight Saturday, May 18. (The bar opens at noon.) The festivities include live music by Tonk, Kicking Bird, My Sister Maura and Charlie Paso, as well as food trucks and giveaways. Both bars also will be serving a special menu of tiki cocktails, including Fog Cutter, Painkiller and a frozen Jungle Bird.

The event partners include Dogwood State Bank, Milberg law firm, Bell's Brewery, Campari and Tikican.

Wolfe & Porter and The Cellar Liquor Bar are located at 905 W. Morgan Street, next door to Irregardless restaurant. The upstairs bar is open 4 p.m.-midnight Tuesday-Friday, and noon-midnight Saturday-Sunday. The Cellar Liquor Bar is open 6 p.m.-midnight Thursday-Saturday but hours will expand in June.
