The National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) recently conducted a survey of its members’ opinions and experiences with various tax software and found the most used, preferred and recommended tax software programs.
For 2023, the survey data shows NATP member respondents are overall very satisfied with their various software. Drake Software is the most commonly used, with 38% of respondents using the software.
Following Drake for most commonly used is ProSeries Tax Professional by Intuit (14%), UltraTax CS by Thomson Reuters (10%) and ATX by Wolters Kluwer (7%). The survey also found 46% of respondents consider the reliability of software as the most important factor when choosing a brand.
TaxAct Professional Edition came through as the most reliable software and most reasonably priced. TaxAct Professional and Drake users were the most likely to recommend the software to other tax pros.
The completed software survey can also be accessed by anyone with a free online NATP account. To speak with someone further about this study, please contact Samantha Strong or Nancy Kasten.
