The Houma Start Corp. main office, 235 Civic Center Blvd, is getting some additions. The Children’s Clinic celebrated its ribbon cutting April 1. Start Corp. also will be opening a behavioral health crisis wing in the next few weeks. The Children’s Clinic wing cost $1 million, and includes eight rooms for mental health clinicians, a calm room, a play therapy room and additional space for pediatric health services. The clinic schedules more than 200 appointments each week, a news release from Start Corp said, in addition to group therapy services. It offers pediatric care, mental health services, individual and family counseling and coordinated referrals in one setting, helping reduce barriers to care and support earlier intervention. Link to Image According to a news release from Start Corp, the clinic is staffed by a registered nurse practitioner, mental health clinicians who specialize in PTSD, EMDR and play therapy. It also provides after-hours services for children beginning at 2:30 p.m. The behavioral crisis clinic will be an additional 3,500 square feet and will cost $1.4 million.
